* The National Infantry Museum at Fort Benning is fabulous – and free. (IMAX movies are also available at the Museum).

* Columbus Museum (Fine Art, Local History, etc.) is wonderful and also free.

* Historic downtown tour.

* Coca-Cola Space Center

* Riverwalk

* Confederate Naval Museum. (unique)

 

South   (all within 75 minutes of the Lodge)

 

       * Westville, an 1840’s town, (weekends) is fabulous. Great for kids and adults. 

       * Providence “Little Grand Canyon”

       * Plains, Georgia – Home of Jimmy Carter

       * Andersonville National Historic Site

       * Montezuma, Georgia – Amish community (Yoder’s Restaurant)

 

Northeast  (all within 25 minutes of the Lodge)

 

  * Warm Springs, Georgia – FDR’S Little White House. National Fish Hatchery.   (Famous Bullock House for lunch!)

  *  Callaway Gardens

  *  FDR State Park

 

West   (all within 70 minutes of the Lodge)                 

 

        * Tuskegee, Alabama – Historic University, George Washington Carver Museum 

        * Auburn, Alabama – Home of Auburn Tigers, Art Museum

       

Also    (all within 2 hours)

 

 * Atlanta , Georgia - Home of the Braves, Hawks, Falcons and Thrashers. High Art Museum, America’s largest Aquarium, Atlanta Zoo, Fox theater, State Capitol.

 * Montgomery, Alabama – Historic districts, State Capitol, First Capitol of the Confederacy

 * Macon, Georgia – Rock and Roll Museum, Historic City tour, pass  peach and pecan farm stores on the way
